Barcelona has an extensive network of metro, bus, tram, FGC and Rodalies. The most difficult choice is usually not the route, but the ticket: a ten-journey ticket, unlimited travel and a tourist city pass are different products. Frequently asked questions about public transport
Is one zone enough for Barcelona?
Zone 1 is sufficient for most journeys within the city. An accommodation or trip outside Barcelona may require additional zones. Check the official zone map based on departure and arrival station, as the municipal boundary and fare zone are not always intuitive.
Can I share the T-casual?
The T-casual is a personal ticket for ten integrated journeys. Therefore, do not count on a party being able to use the same card simultaneously. Check the current terms of use and choose a suitable product for every traveller.
Does the T-casual apply on the airport metro?
No. TMB states that the T-casual is not valid at Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 on L9 Sud. For that metro ride you need a valid airport product, or you can choose, for example, train, Aerobús, bus or taxi.
Do I have to check out in Barcelona?
With metro and train you often also open an exit gate, while buses mainly use boarding validation. Follow the gates and directions for each carrier. You must validate again when transferring, even if it falls within one integrated journey.
Is the metro accessible by wheelchair?
Many, but not all, parts of the network are completely barrier-free. An elevator can also be temporarily out of service. Therefore, check the departure, transfer and arrival stations in the official accessibility information.
Does public transport run all night?
There is night transport, but the offer varies per day and line. Don't automatically assume there will be a night metro. Shortly before departure, check the current metro and NitBus timetable and plan an alternative.
