11am–12pm

After your visit, travel by metro towards Passeig de Gràcia. Those who like to walk can also explore Eixample on foot, but keep in mind that this will take about half an hour. Along the way you will get a good idea of the recognizable street pattern, the wide avenues and the modernist facades of the district.

Advice
Choose the metro if you want to have as much time as possible for the old city

Check out Casa Batllo and La Pedrera

Stroll along Passeig de Gràcia Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. The striking facades already give a good impression of Gaudí's architecture. With only one day in Barcelona, it is wise not to visit both buildings extensively. Choose one interior or view both buildings from the outside.

2:00–3:00 PM

Lunch in or around Eixample

After the architectural walk, take some time for lunch. There are many restaurants around Passeig de Gràcia, but you can often find quieter options in the surrounding side streets. Choose a location that fits in with your further route towards the historic centre.

3:00 PM–5:00 PM

Stroll through Barri Gòtic

After lunch, head towards Barri Gotic, the historic heart of Barcelona. Stroll through the narrow streets and past squares and old facades. You do not have to record every street in advance. It is precisely the peaceful wandering that makes this part of the city special.

  • Plaça de Catalunya
  • Plaça Reial
  • Plaça de Sant Jaume
  • the cathedral of Barcelona
  • Pont del Bisbe
  • Plaça del Rei

  • Santa Maria del Mar
  • Passeig del Born

  • Parc de la Ciutadella

An extensive museum visit takes extra time. Only choose this if you want to shorten another part of the route.

From 7 p.m

End the day at Port Vell

At the end of the day, walk from El Born towards Port Vell. You can take a leisurely stroll along the water and look back on the day. Stay in the area for dinner or, if you still have enough energy, walk further towards Barceloneta.

Park Güell is not located directly on the main route and takes a relatively long time to travel there and back. Therefore, do not try to simply place the park on top of the entire program.
